NCSOFT’s next-gen MMORPG AION2 made its public debut with the first episode of AION2 NIGHT, an official livestream that introduced core gameplay features and revealed details about the upcoming Focus Group Test (FGT).
The broadcast aired at 8 PM (GMT/UTC+9) on May 29, with lead developers joining to share exclusive in-game content and interact directly with players. AION2 NIGHT will continue as a regular series, offering updates and developer insights leading up to launch.
During the stream, Chief Business Officer Seunguk Baek stated, “AION2 is our vision of a complete evolution of AION ,” and introduced never-before-seen in-game footage showcasing the game’s core features, including the expansive world design, class systems, and dungeons.
Producer Namjoon Kim further elaborated that AION2 continues and evolves the AION IP, set 200 years after the original game. Highlights include:
An expansive game world 36 times larger than the original
A seamless flying system that allows flight across all regions
Eight classes that carry forward the identity of the original AION
NCSOFT also announced that FGT registration is now open to all players. The players can select either June 28 or 29 to participate in the Test. Applications will be accepted through June 12.
Participants will be able to explore a wide range of features, from character customization to PvE dungeons, and will also be invited to take part in feedback sessions with the development team.
More details on the FGT can be found on the official AION2 website.
To celebrate the legacy of the original game, AION2 will allow returning players to reclaim their original character names. Those who played AION between November 2008 and December 31, 2013, can log into the official website and reserve their legacy names for use in the new community forums.
Scheduled to launch in Q4 2025, AION2 promises a vast PvE experience. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and will support cross-platform play across PC and mobile.
