Lineage W has unveiled its new arena dungeon, “Shilen’s Sanctum,” as part of the final update in “The Chaos” series, following the releases of Demon Temple and faction war, Border of Hatred. In this dungeon, only 20 players who acquire a key can earn the right to challenge the Goddess Shilen herself.

Players must journey through several areas before reaching the place where Shilen resides. Experience the unfolding stories and visuals throughout the sanctum.

It all began with the recent gruesome murders of priestesses in Gludio. Reports emerged of radical movements within the Order of Rest in places like Gran Kain's temple and Heine. Even Elena, once seen in Oren, has vanished. Determined to find her, I made my way underground with Lachesis, who had previously been in the area. It was there that I caught a glimpse of Elena's dream. A vision foretelling the day the goddess of death, Shilen, would descend upon the world. Shilen had long been preparing to unleash destruction, and recent battles with dragons had hastened her timeline. The arrival of Shilen meant imminent doom, and we had to ensure her plans didn't come to fruition.

After navigating through various battles, I finally reunited with Elena. She had been wandering, following the traces of Shilen. When she learned that the villagers of Oren had been transformed into monsters, despair washed over her. Yet, Elena quickly steeled herself. She resolved to seek the power of the goddess of death to restore the villagers to their former selves. At her request, I joined Elena and Lachesis on our journey toward Shilen's Sanctum.

Shilen's Sanctum had originally been located on the upper floors of the Demon Temple, but its entrance was sealed within a separate dimension, making it impossible to reach. However, we discovered that the entrance had been hidden within an ancient underground waterway connecting Talking Island and the Gludio Dungeon. Elena speculated that fanatics had used this passage to travel between these locations to summon the goddess. The path, previously concealed by magic, had likely been revealed due to their efforts to call forth Shilen.

People who were tracking Shilen’s traces had already set up camp in the sanctum's lobby. However, to find the true place where they could reach the goddess, and to stop them, a ritual was necessary.

At the mention of “ritual,” Lachesis’s eyes gleamed with excitement. The results of her long-awaited research were finally coming to light. Having lived for centuries as an Elf, Lachesis had spent more than half her life devoted to theological studies. The myths surrounding Einhasad, Gran Kain, and the Goddess of Death, Shilen, were what kept her going.

Through Exyd’s connections, Lachesis became a researcher at the Sorcery Institute, where she began to delve into the mysteries of the Ivory Tower and Shilen. When she couldn’t access information as a researcher, she even worked as a mercenary, slipping past the lab’s eyes and dedicating her days to studying the Order of Rest and Shilen. Though it led to her suspension, Lachesis felt no regret. Now, standing before her was the very key to understanding the Goddess of Death, Shilen.

Beyond the door opened by the ritual, we found ourselves in a twisted labyrinth. On the surface, it seemed like an ordinary underground waterway, but the deeper we ventured, the more disorienting it became. Monsters, tainted by Shilen’s hatred, roamed these depths, making it nearly impossible to pass through.

Following Elena, we stumbled upon the fanatics who had been offered as sacrifices. As we frantically dealt with them, Elena once again slipped away. In the distance, an eerie song echoed. As we traced the sound, we came across Elena lying asleep beside a young girl.

The girl, her face marked by a large scar, introduced herself as Io. She explained that she had been raised to become a vessel for Shilen. However, her frailty prevented her from fully embracing the goddess's power, which left her body and face twisted and scarred. Though her age was likely much older, her speech resembled that of a child, perhaps a result of being raised by the fanatics. Clinging tightly to Elena, Io declared that she would protect her.

Elena awoke from her sleep. Recounting what she had seen in her dreams, she asked for our help in stopping Shilen’s descent. Despite her reluctance, Io, knowing the way to Shilen’s Sanctum, agreed to guide us.

Tranquil Surface led us into Shilen’s inner world, a vast, endless space like a starry night sky. In the center of a river stood a series of polygonal structures, with what appeared to be the entrance to Shilen’s Sanctum. The water cascaded endlessly downward, yet the surface remained eerily calm, and a massive shadow-like figure glided beneath.

Monsters teemed on the water-soaked structures. These were not living creatures, as they were shadowy manifestations from Shilen’s inner world. The structures were connected by stairways, with a massive door at the center that led to Shilen’s Sanctum.

Upon passing through the door, we entered Shilen’s Sanctum, dominated by grotesque structures shaped like giant hands.

This place was directly linked to the goddess herself. The young girl whispered to Elena, urging her to become one with her. Then came “Twisted Shilen,” who, though not fully descended, emanated an overwhelming power. Only those deemed worthy would stand a chance at defeating the goddess.

A swamp of blood and screams.

I know this place.

Where I prayed with a desperate cry,

Where I offered rotten blood and flesh.

We only wanted one thing.

Goddess.

Your prayers called upon me

Your prayer for salvation,

through flesh and blood.
