Expansive PvE content and dynamic content presented, drawing an enthusiastic response from viewers
NCSOFT has officially revealed the core content of its highly anticipated MMORPG, AION2, during the premier AION2 NIGHT live streaming. Fans were treated to a first look at gameplay systems that faithfully preserve the essence of the original AION while introducing major upgrades and innovations, earning highly positive acclaim from players.
Hosted by Seunguk Baek, Chief Business Officer (CBO) and head of AION2 development, and Producer Namjoon Kim, the livestream introduced key game features, including the expansive world design, class systems, and dungeons through in-game footage. CBO Baek explained, “AION2 is our vision of a complete evolution of AION. Our focus has been on both honoring the original IP and pushing it forward.”
Producer Kim emphasized innovations that reflect the team’s modern approach to design:
Separate servers for Elyos and Asmodians to improve faction balance
Easy Mode instance dungeons tailored for newcomers, ensuring accessibility
Manual combat controls that offer skill-based, action-packed gameplay
Set 200 years after the events of the original game, AION2 invites players to choose between the Elyos and Asmodian factions, each starting in entirely separate regions. As the story progresses, it naturally evolves into large-scale Realm-vs-Realm (RvR) battles, deepening the franchise’s iconic faction conflict.
The world of AION2 has been expanded to an unprecedented scale—over 36 times larger than the original game. Developed under the concept of “explore everything you can see,” the game offers full aerial freedom in every region, along with underwater exploration, a feature not present in the original.
AION2 also builds on the original’s renowned character customization system. The new title will allow players to fine-tune over 200 adjustable features when creating their character. A user-friendly interface ensures that even players new to customization can enjoy the process with ease.
Eight playable classes were introduced during the broadcast:
Gladiator: Powerful, wide-area skill attacks
Templar: Core tanking role
Assassin: Precision-based melee specialist
Marksman: Long-range scout class
Sorcerer: High burst magic damage
Spiritmaster: Optimized for solo play
Cleric: Now featuring improved damage capabilities
Chanter: A versatile support role with multiplayer utility
Fans applauded how the updated classes preserved the essence of the original game while delivering a faster, more dynamic combat experience.
A wide variety of PvE content was also showcased. AION2 will offer over 200 dungeons, ranging from solo instances to group dungeons for four or eight players. Numerous open-world events will take place across the expansive world, offering players a variety of gameplay styles to suit their preferences.
A fan-favorite from the original, the instance dungeon—Fire Temple—has been fully reimagined for AION2, with new boss mechanics, dungeon layouts, and cinematic elements, delivering a completely new experience.
Additional features revealed included:
A hit-confirm system with no auto-combat
A variety of lightweight, casual mini-games
A unique system where defeated monsters can be tamed and used as mounts
These announcements drew peak engagement from the live audience, underscoring the strong anticipation for the title.
NCSOFT will continue to engage with the community through regular AION2 NIGHT broadcasts leading up to launch.
