NCSOFT today announced the launch of its Season 2 update for AION 2, delivering a wide range of new PvE content expansion along with multiple core system improvements designed to enhance overall gameplay convenience and player progression.
Season 2 adds a new Expedition dungeon, Dying Dramata’s Nest. Players will face seven different boss monsters within Nightmare content, while Raid and Ascension Trial expand with new dungeons and higher difficulty tiers—Extreme, Insane, and Hell. Players can also enjoy Nyerk Shooter, a new Shugo Festa mini-game where up to four characters aim and burst falling balloons in mid-air.
With the new season, NCSOFT has updated the ranking calculation system across all content categories. Rankings will now be determined by players’ best records, rather than cumulative progression. The end-of-season rewards will now be determined by class-specific rankings, offering a more competitive and balanced evaluation across the player base.
Season 2 brings significant updates to Abyss PvP as well. In Lower Abyss Reshanta, three instances of Guardian Lord Nahma will appear, while the newly introduced Middle Abyss Reshanta introduces up to two Enraged Guardian Lord Nahma encounters. Additionally, Artifact Siege has been rebalanced with faction-wide buffs that help counteract power disparities and promote more competitive battles.
Several new systems—developed in response to community feedback—make their debut this season. These include expanded Soul Binding options, additional Sync slots, and the new Transfer system. The Transfer system allows players to move Amplifier enhance levels, upgrade stages, and Soul Binding effects from existing equipment to new gear. Each piece of equipment can be transferred up to six times.
One of the most requested improvements—the Closet system revamp—has also been implemented. Starting in Season 2, all owned skins (excluding Specia-grade items) can be shared across all characters on the same server. The system accommodates more stored Skins and increases customization freedom. New hoodie-style skins have also been added, complete with on-off hood toggle options.
Rounding out the update are new class balance adjustments, with a focus on Templar and Cleric. Charge-based skills such as Punishment, Rushing Smash, and Gale Arrow now deal increased Stagger Gauge damage at higher charge levels. Defensive abilities—including Protection Armor and Warding Shield—have been enhanced to provide faster HP recovery after successful blocks or evasions.
