NCSOFT today announced that its MMORPG AION 2 has introduced a new Expedition dungeon, Cradle of Nihility, alongside a series of Lunar New Year-themed events.
During a special Lunar New Year live livestream held on February 10, the development team unveiled several key updates, including the new Expedition content Cradle of Nihility, Season 2’s second-round Elyos–Asmodians server matching, Abyss content improvements, the new Soul Fuse system, new cosmetic items, and limited-time seasonal events.
Cradle of Nihility is a newly designed PvE dungeon set in a mysterious environment. It features Afflicted Bakarma, a boss monster fell into a dimensional rift and was empowered by immense energy, yet remains consumed by rage and trapped within its altered form.
NCSOFT also revealed the second-round Elyos–Asmodians server matching list. Matchmaking was determined through a comprehensive evaluation of combat-related metrics, including Abyss eliminations, active combat participation by server, Artifact Siege performance, and overall battle engagement metrics. Detailed matching information is available on the official AION 2 website.
Abyss content has been further refined in response to player feedback. Going forward, Artifact Siege battles in both Lower and Middle Abyss Reshanta will occur simultaneously every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9 PM. If a faction falls significantly behind (3:0) in siege results, its players will gain access to the Abyss Corridor from designated outposts. Additionally, PvP deaths will now reduce ranking points instead of Abyss Points, and overall efficiency within the Abyss Corridor has been enhanced.
The newly introduced Soul Fuse system allows players to further enhance equipment that has reached maximum reinforcement. By using two Philosopher’s Stone: Revelation items on equipment with 100% Soul Binding, players can apply additional Soul Binding effects. New acquisition methods for Soul Book (Bound) have also been added to support the system.
To celebrate Lunar New Year holiday, AION 2 has added four new cosmetic items: Celadon Moon Hanbok, Shadow Moon Hanbok, Fragment Peony, and Forest’s Whisper. Players can also obtain festive pets, such as the Pearlescent Butterfly Kite and Fluffball Haechi.
Beginning after the February 11 maintenance, NCSOFT is hosting special Lunar New Year events, Sparkling New Year Story and Red Horse Festival , both offering login-based rewards. Additionally, a Valentine’s Day crafting event will allow players to create buff items through town NPCs that enhance attack power, flight speed, and movement speed.
