NCSOFT Achieves ‘A’ from KCGS ESG Evaluation for Fifth Consecutive Year

The only Korean game company to sustain ‘A’ rating for five consecutive years in the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS) ESG Evaluation

Recognized for advanced environmental data management and global-standard security systems

Continues strong performance in global ESG benchmarks, including two consecutive years on the DJBIC Asia-Pacific Index

NCSOFT announced today that it has received an A rating in the 2025 ESG Evaluation conducted by the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS), marking its fifth consecutive year achieving this distinction.

NCSOFT remains the only Korean game company to maintain the same evaluation rating for five consecutive years. The company was also the first in the domestic game industry to earn an overall A rating from KCGS in 2021.

The KCGS ESG Evaluation is one of Korea’s most recognized standards for assessing environmental, social, and governance practices among publicly listed companies.

NCSOFT achieved strong results across all three ESG pillars:

    • Environmental: NCSOFT discloses greenhouse gas emissions, including Scope 3, across eight subsidiaries in Korea, the United States, Japan, and Taiwan. This year, NCSOFT expanded its Scope 3 reporting categories from five to seven and adopted updated emissions calculation methodologies to further enhance transparency and reliability.

    • Social: NCSOFT became the first Korean game company to obtain Global CBPR (Cross-Border Privacy Rules) certification, while also maintaining international standards ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701. Its family-friendly workplace policies and comprehensive health and safety risk management systems were also highly regarded.

    • Governance: The appointment of a new female outside director strengthened board diversity, and the implementation of a Board Skills Matrix (BSM) improved systematic management of board expertise.

Beyond domestic recognition, NCSOFT continues to perform strongly in global ESG evaluations. The company was the only Korean game company listed for two consecutive years on the 2024 Dow Jones Best-in-Class (DJBIC) Asia-Pacific Index and received an AA rating in the 2024 MSCI ESG Ratings.

Hyunjoo Kim, Head of ESG Management at NCSOFT, said, “Sustainable management is a core pillar of NCSOFT’s long-term competitiveness and market leadership. We will continue to advance global-standard ESG practices and strengthen our commitment to meaningful and responsible management.”
