NCSOFT’s highly anticipated MMORPG, AION 2, revealed its core gameplay and features during the official livestream event, AION2NIGHT, held on August 8.
Hosted by AION 2’s lead developers, AION2NIGHT offered in-depth look at the game’s core systems while engaging directly with the community. The latest episode featured an overview of key content, highlights from the June Focus Group Test (FGT), and a live Q&A fact-check session.
During the broadcast, NCSOFT introduced AION 2’s core combat content:
• Solo play includes Nightmare Dungeon, Seal Dungeon, Garrison, and Awakening Battle.
• Party-based challenges feature Expedition, Transcendence, Eradication, and Sanctuary.
• Competitive PvP modes include Arena, Battlefield, Rift, and Abyss.
• Casual content such as Daily Dungeon and Shugo Festa were unveiled for the first time.
A highly anticipated character customization demo was also showcased. Players will be able to fine-tune and personalize their avatars in detail—not only adjusting face and hair but also makeup, styling, and body type—allowing for a unique expression of style and personality. These customizations will be fully reflected in the game world.
The iconic Fire Temple dungeon, a hallmark of the original AION IP first teased in June, was also featured with live gameplay. Using four of the eight revealed classes, the development team demonstrated an intense boss fight against Kromede. Viewers responded enthusiastically to the modernized visuals and dynamic combat in this reimagined classic.
Highlights from the June FGT event at NCSOFT’s R&D Center were also shared, with participants praising the combat mechanics and customization features. NCSOFT confirmed it will actively incorporate player feedback to further refine the game experience.
During the Q&A fact-check session, developers addressed key player questions raised after FGT, covering topics such as skill slot configuration, RvR mechanics on race-specific servers, and how AION 2 preserves the core essence of the original IP. They also outlined their development goals and design intentions for each feature, maintaining open communication with the community.
The livestream concluded with the first reveal of AION 2’s Trade system. Producer Namjoon Kim explained, “The Trade system enables players to exchange items using in-game currency instead of premium currency. After careful consideration, we designed this system to offer the most enjoyable experience for players.”
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, AION 2 is a next-generation MMORPG packed with expansive PvE content. The game is slated for launch in Q4 2025.
