    NCSOFT Announces Annual Financial Results for 2023

    Annual revenue in 2023 reported KRW 1.78 trillion, operating profit of KRW 137.3 billion, and net income of KRW 213.9 billion.

    Mobile and PC game sales rose globally in the fourth quarter, leading to a 15% year-over-year increase in North America & Europe, and an 8% growth in Asia.

    THRONE AND LIBERTY’ is counting down for a global launch along with the release of ‘Project BSS’ & ‘BATTLE CRUSH’ in the first half of 2024.

    NCSOFT aims to strengthen its competitiveness in the game business and expand investment to secure new growth drivers.

    NCSOFT today announced the financial results for the fiscal year 2023.

     

    NCSOFT’s full-year consolidated revenue of 2023 totaled KRW 1.78 trillion, marking a 33% YoY decrease. Operating profit and net income recorded of KRW 137.3 billion and KRW 213.9 billion, representing declines of 75% and 51%, respectively, compared to the preceding year.

     

    Regional annual sales for each territory showed: KRW 1.15 trillion in Korea, KRW 349.9 billion in Asia, and KRW 135.8 billion in North America & Europe. Royalty sales posted KRW 144.5 billion. Accordingly, the combined annual overseas and royalty sales represent 35% of the total revenue for the year.

     

    Sales by each platform demonstrated: KRW 1.20 trillion in mobile games and KRW 365.1 billion in PC games. Royalty sales recorded KRW 144.5 billion.

     

    NCSOFT’s revenue of fourth quarter reported KRW 437.7 billion, with a 3% increase from the previous quarter. The quarterly operating profit amounted to KRW 3.9 billion, reflecting a 77% decrease QoQ, while net income stood at KRW 25.2 billion, indicating a 43% decline QoQ.

     

    NCSOFT experienced growth in quarterly sales across all territories. Sales in Korea reached KRW 284.5 billion, reflecting a 3% QoQ rise. In Asia, sales amounted to KRW 84.7 billion, up by 8% QoQ. North America & Europe reported KRW 37.9 billion, showing a 15% increase compared to the previous quarter, fueled by the robust performance of Guild Wars 2.

     

    Mobile games in the fourth quarter generated sales of KRW 298.9 billion, reflecting a 9% increase QoQ. This growth was propelled by Lineage M’s consistent performance and sales increases in Lineage 2M and Lineage W attributable to major updates introduced during the quarter. PC games recorded quarterly sales of KRW 92.3 billion. Alongside the launch of THRONE AND LIBERTY, Lineage 2 and Guild War 2 displayed QoQ sales increases, while Lineage and AION experienced declines in the same period.

     

    NCSOFT is preparing for the global release of its latest PC MMORPG title, THRONE AND LIBERTY. Additionally, the upcoming new IPs – Project BSS and BATTLE CRUSH – are currently in development and slated for launch in the first half of 2024.

     

    NCSOFT aims to bolster its position in the gaming industry by expanding the user base of its existing live services and enhancing the global competitiveness of its new IPs. Additionally, NCSOFT will prioritize optimizing efficiency in management and decision-making processes, as well as extended investment efforts to secure new growth drivers.
